I am incredibly tired right now because I stayed up to see Ashton Kutcher break one million followers on Twitter.  It was sort of a monumental event for me, just because I have had a vesting interest in Twitter for going on two years now.  In reality, I have known about it longer that I have been using it.  Needless to say, it is somewhat hard for me to sit back and watch someone who has been on Twitter for four months, get behind it and be an advocate for it in such a major way.  What about everyone who has been representing Twitter for years?

Alright, granted Ashton Kutcher has a following outside of Twitter and he is giving money away to a good cause, but I still feel he should be acting–donating his time instead of his money.   It would hold more weight for him to donate time and actually be where the action is.  He should buy the nets and go hand them out in the areas that are prone to malaria.  He should walk out, what he is speaking about.

That beings said, I have been doing a lot of talk myself lately.  I need to once again humble myself, sit back, relax, and start listening to people who are wiser than me.  This doesn’t mean I can’t interject a thought or question now and then, but I feel like I need more time to learn before I continue acting the part.  With anything, I feel like one learns something, shares it with others, realizes what they have learned and practiced to their full potential, and then has to humble themselves so they can begin this process over again.

So here’s to Ashton Kutcher and his display of philanthropy.  You are doing good, but I still feel it would mean more if you were there.  And here’s to another period of humbled learning–something we all could use from time to time.

COMMENTS / ONE COMMENT

I don’t know why we expect more from someone like Ashton Kutcher. I mean, he is doing what he knows and thinks to be best. He is doing what the world deems best, giving to those to don’t have. The idea of putting actions behind our sentiments isn’t a philosophy that is of this world. It’s a concept set forth in the Bible. Therefore, why would I expect him to demonstrate his concern that way? I think that Christians should be putting actions behind our words, but someone like him? I don’t expect that much. Good post, I like the idea.
