My friend Eric Abruzzese and I sat down last night  to start planning the logistics around a BarCamp York.  We feel that while York may be smaller than Philadelphia and Baltimore, we should be able to capture the attention of professionals in the South Central Pennsylvania area and provide them with a unique BarCamp exeprience.  One filled with just as much information and inspiration as a larger city brings to theirs.

Right now we are in need of a location in the York, PA area and are thinking (tenatively) for a late March 2010 date for BarCamp York.  This would give enough time to get everything together–location, professionals, sponsors, et cetera.

In case you don’t know, BarCamp is a user generated conference where the attendees create and lead the discussions.  Typical topics include business, web developement, technology, social media, traditional media, as well as any other influences the attendees bring with them.

If you are a professional in York, PA, or are just interested in the subject matter and would like to help, please feel free to drop us a line sethnenstiel [at] gmail [dot] com or eric.abruzzese [at] gamil [dot] com with BarCamp York in the subject line.  We are looking for people to help out with the planning, logistics, locations, sponsoring, whatever!

Edit:  On our to do list is to contact some of the local business networks.  If you know people or are involved in the York Chamber of Commerce, the Susquehanna Sustainable Business Network, or any organization of the like, feel free to contact us before we call you!
