Failure to Excel

Today I attended two churches.
I went to my home church Living Word, and my friend’s church, Action Church.
I listened to two sermons from two pastors.
From two view points I received a compound message on how to live.

Live Faithfully (Living Word)

His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

Matthew 25:23

Faithful in little will in turn be faithful in much.
You can not learn to deal with the huge tribulations in life, with out first dealing with the small ones.
You can not forgive someone of huge trespass against you, if you have not learned to forgive the small ones.

This must be practiced by following Christ.

He must become greater; I must become less.

John 3:30

Putting Him first in your actions.
This was the message of the first service.

Living Patiently (Action Church)

The end of a matter is better than its beginning, and patience is better than pride.

Ecclesiastes 7:8

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Galatians 6:7-9

To sow in the Spirit and to do good works takes time.
If we live patiently and persist, we will reap harvest.

Tie them together.

It takes time and effort to grow in anything good.
One can not experience the ends before the means.
And to get there we have to start small and through Christ with the Spirit.
