sabrina

As this break draws quickly to an end I wanted to revisit an idea I learned during my month off.

Paris isn’t for changing planes, it’s for changing your outlook.

Audrey Hepburn in the film Sabrina

I found this to be an interesting quote, especially since it pertained to what I was reading.

One of the books I chose on whim was Stretching Lessons by Sue Bender.
It was an excellent read if you are looking for some light hearted wisdom and self discovery.
The back cover labels it as spirituality and inspiration.
Those looking for a religious influence will be disappointed, but I found it insightful.
There is so much we can learn from people older than us if we just choose to listen.

The idea I am taking away from Audrey Hepburn’s quote and Sue Bender’s book, is that of personal change.
I think it is best expressed through further quotes from the book.

Change is a matter of intention and attention.

Once change becomes a joyful process, the fear of change disappears. And with it, most of the difficulties.

Slowly, slowly–the smaller the movement, the bigger the change.

Each of these quotes embodies an tiny idea about change.
What it is and how to bring it to fruition.
Change is something I find myself scared of but the more I seek it the less I am troubled by it.

I don’t think I ever draw these posts together to form a solid idea.
I like to leave you thinking; it makes sense to me.
With that, here is one final thing I noticed in Sue Bender’s book.
She is always doing something new to stretch herself.
She is always talking with (new) people about life and growth.

Yeild to whim.
